Privacy policy
Coffely is built to be useful without knowing who you are. This page explains what little data is involved when you use the site.

The short version
- No accounts, no sign-up, and no cookies set by Coffely.
- Visitor statistics are anonymous and aggregated.
- Your location is only used on your device when you tap “Near me”. It is never sent to us.
- We don’t sell data and we don’t run advertising trackers.
Who we are
Coffely (www.coffely.online) is a directory of coffee shops in New York City. Questions about this policy can be sent to hello@coffely.online.
Information we collect
Anonymous visitor statistics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages are useful. It does not use cookies and does not identify you. For each page view it may record:
- the page you visited, including search terms and filters in the address (for example ?q=astoria)
- the website that linked you here (referrer)
- approximate location (country, region, city) derived from your connection
- browser, operating system and device type
- the time of the visit
To count unique visitors without cookies, Vercel creates a temporary identifier from the request that is discarded after 24 hours. We only see totals, never individual visitors. See Vercel’s analytics privacy documentation.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, under Vercel’s privacy policy.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to update listings, and we don’t share it.
Your location (“Near me”)
When you choose “Near me”, your browser asks for permission to share your location. If you allow it, your coordinates are used inside your browser to calculate distances to coffee shops. They are not sent to our servers, not added to the page address, and not stored. You can withdraw permission at any time in your browser settings.
Content from other services
- Photos of coffee shops load from Google’s image servers (googleusercontent.com). Your browser connects to Google to fetch them, so Google receives your IP address. We set these requests not to reveal which Coffely page you were on.
- Maps on shop pages are embedded from OpenStreetMap and are covered by the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
- Links to Google Maps directions, shop websites, Instagram, Facebook and ordering services take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Cookies
Coffely does not set cookies. Embedded maps and other services listed above may use their own, as described in their policies.
How long we keep data
Analytics are kept as aggregated statistics. Emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you. Because we hold almost none, the main case is email you’ve sent us. Write to hello@coffely.online and we’ll handle it.
Business listings
Shop information (name, address, hours, phone, website, rating and photo) comes from public business listings. Owners can ask us to update or remove a listing on our contact page.
Children
Coffely is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If we add features such as advertising, accounts or newsletters, this policy will be updated before they go live.
